Explore South Tyrol’s provincial capital Bolzano/Bozen, take a tour of its historic centre and discover all about the place where the Italian and German cultures met and clashed, deeply shaping the whole region’s history and present.
A guided tour on foot is one of the best ways to get acquainted with a new town. A guide will accompany you through the traffic-calmed historic centre of Bolzano/Bozen, with its colourful squares, iconic churches and stately palaces. You will also have the opportunity to do some window-shopping under the ancient arcades. As you indulge with espresso, pizza, pasta or knödel in the local restaurants and bars, entertaining explanations, facts and anecdotes will turn the meal into an experience in its own right. Bolzano/Bozen is a place where opposites meet and give life to something unique: tradition and modernity, Italian levity and Teutonic thoroughness, nature and culture, knödel and spaghetti all rub shoulders within the same space. Our guides will tell you all about the Italian and German way of life, as well as about the local history, culture, arts and architecture, and of course about Ötzi, the Similaun mummy.
We, the tourist guides and tourist leader of South Tyrol, will be happy to take you on a discovery journey:
A two-hour guided tour will allow you to explore the historic centre and its main landmarks, such as the cathedral, the arcades and the fruit market, offering you interesting insights into the town’s exciting history, which stretches back over 1,000 years. Sights also include the magnificent palaces of the town’s nobility and rich merchant families. We will also take advantage of the lookout tower to enjoy a unique view across to the Dolomites and visit Ötzi the Ice man without having to queue.
If you opt for a half-day or full-day tour, you will have the chance to explore the area a bit further. In fact, Bolzano/Bozen is a great starting point for a trip to the Wine Road, the Merano/Meran area or to mountains and side valleys. You can reach the Dolomites in less than an hour, and Trento is only 50 km away.
